Looking for a talented hair and makeup artist in the Gold Coast? You’ve come to the right place.

Tamika Adams is the founder and head makeup artist / hair stylist at The Makeup Hut in Gold Coast, Australia. Tamika started her journey in 2014 and completed a diploma in specialist makeup services and hair styling a few years later. Tamika has been a part of some huge events including Mardi Gras, Mercedes Benz fashion week, Miss Universe and many other film and television events.

Tamika is now deeply passionate and focused on bridal work and prides herself on providing the best quality, long lasting hairstyles and makeup looks for her bridal parties.

“Being a bridal hairstylist is what I love most about my job. I love being a part of what is some people’s most important day of their lives. All the excitement that comes with it, the nerves, the stories. I get so invested in each individual brides’ journey that I feel so happy to meet so many amazing people.”

Tamika has been using the Eco Style Project range for quite some time now and swears by the Dry Shampoo, especially on a wedding morning.

“I never use Dry Shampoos from other brands and haven’t in a very long time. As soon as I tried the Eco Style Project Dry Shampoo, I was blown away. Not only does it smell incredible but it also doesn’t leave white residue on darker hair. It gives the hair body and texture and lifts the hair from the root. It’s also not too strong in smell and doesn’t leave me or clients with any discomfort whilst styling the hair.”

Tamika is talented in all departments of the bridal hair world, but she especially loves soft, boho styles and finds that most brides and bridal parties request this look. Tamika’s favorite styling technique when creating these boho looks is using texture enhancing products such as the Eco Style Project Dry Shampoo to get lots of movement in the hair and therefore help with the end result. This coincides dreamily with Tamika’s number one golden rule which we can already guess…

“My golden rule is hair prep! Firstly, asking your bride and bridal party to wash, blow dry and prep their hair the day before they sit in your chair is vital. It will save so much time as you are often running on a strict time schedule on a wedding morning! Secondly, you are prepping the hair for the hair style. If you spend more time prepping the hair correctly - using the right products and securing the right texture in the hair, it will become a lot easier to achieve the desired style.”

On top of that, Tamika offers some incredible inspiration and advice to blossoming stylists. Some of which include:

  • Consistency is key

  • The hard work will pay off if you keep going for long enough

  • You MUST find your niche in a saturated industry like hair & makeup – whether that’s bridal work, editorial work, education etc

  • Use your social media platforms! Show up to your social media every day and post at least once a day.

  • Discover your point of difference and show that!

“Clients won’t come over night but don’t give up!” Tamika says. “Some of the best stylists in the world were working towards their dream business for at least 5-10 years until they made real business.”

Tamika’s enlightening words, amazing talents and gorgeous social media feed has left many of us awestruck.
